The Trenton Thunder announced late Tuesday evening that top pitching prospect Luis Severino has been placed on the seven-day disabled list with a blister on his right middle finger.
Severino was forced to exit his last start this past Sunday in New Hampshire after going just two innings before exiting with what General Manager Brian Cashman confirmed to the New York Post as being a blister issue.
Also joining Severino on the crowded Thunder DL are RHP Alex Smith (right middle finger) and 1B Matt Snyder (left ankle).
Snyder was promoted to Trenton last Friday after first baseman Greg Bird landed on the DL himself with a shoulder injury. Snyder was hitting .273 in his first three games for the Thunder after leading the Florida State League in hitting at .360.
As reported earlier, RHPs Conor Mullee and Giovanny Gallegos are joining the team from Tampa. Also returning to the active roster is INF Ali Castillo, who was injured in the final week of spring training.
