Top prospect Bird heads to DL

The Trenton Thunder announced on Friday that first baseman Greg Bird was headed to the disabled list with a right shoulder injury. First baseman Matt Snyder has been promoted from Tampa to take his place on the active roster.

Through 25 games, Bird was batting .226 with three home runs and 12 RBI. More to come on this developing story.

Update: Baseball America’s Josh Norris reports the Bird is indeed headed for an MRI.
